THINGS FOR STUDENTS TO SIGN UP FOR:

THINGS WE DO!

  • Weekly Activities

    Thursday Nights Together (TNT)

Thursday 7:27pm at 507 Waldron St.

Large Group Worship Time, fun opener, announcments, break out to small groups after large group worship. Once a month, we will stay together as a larg group for teaching from a staff or guest speaker.

    Train & Engage

Alternating Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we spend 30 minutes in evangelisim training followed by 30 minutes on campus engaging with students in spiritual conversations.

    Sunday Supper

Sundays at 6pm at 507 Waldron St.

Since the dorms don't serve dinner on Sunday evenings we have a time together for food and felllowship before the week starts. The meal is provided by local churches and we have a $3 donation that goes to Pack Away Hunger.

  • Outreach

We try to have events specifically to reach out to students who would not normally come. Some of those events are things like:

-BGR Events, welcoming new students during Freshmen orientation on campus

-Ice Scream Sundaes, an event held at our ministry facility at the end of Freshmen orientation

-Boiler Reach, Free Pancakes homecoming weekend and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with those who stop to get pancakes

-Train & Engage, where we spend 30 minutes in evangelisim training followed by 30 minutes on campus engaging with students in spiritual conversations.

  • Cross-Cultural Events

We hope to provide cultural experiences for international students that are American traditions or just bringing international and domestic students together. Some examples are:

    Fall Festival

We have a fall season event  where we cook over an open fire, carve pumpkins, do some line dancing, and more.

    American Wedding Experience

This is an event where we invite international students to come watch a re-enacment of an American Wedding. The people who are playing the role of the Bride and Groom have already been married and are going through this to allow others to learn.

    International Potluck Dinner

Food is a great way to learn about others and their culture. Each person attending is invited to bring a dish of food or non-alcoholic drink from their culture to share with everyone else.

  • Retreat

In between late September to mid October, we take a weekend to get away from campus with our focus being to help students learn and grow in their personal relationship with Jesus while also bonding with other students.

  • Mission Trips

Spring Break Mission Trips:  (example) Beach Reach is one where we take students to Panama City Beach, Florida, for a week of serving fellow students by giving free van rides keeping all spring breakers safe. We also give a free pancake breakfast away in late mornings. We use this to share our faith with those we serve.

We see Spring Break as a great opportunity to use it for the Gospel by serving and sharing. More details to come.

    Summer Missions

We encourage students to take the time to go on a summer mission trip that could last 2-12 weeks long anywhere in the world that God is callling them. We raise over 6k with events like parking cars for home football games, PNO, Dessert Auction, to help support students to be able to go.

  • Community Service

Giving back should be a part of what all people do whereever they live. Since the greater Lafayette is the student's community, we give them ways they can give back.

    Winterization

A service project held in early November where over 1,500 students go out and serve the elderly and disabled in preparing their yards for winter. This group of students serves over 350 homes in the community on just one Saturday morning.

    Parents Night Out

Students take care of children from the community so that the parents can have an evening out. Each student is required to get a background check which can be obtained through the lead campus minister Ben. This is where parents can be sure their children are taken care of and in safe hands. If you are a parent and want to sign up CLICK HERE.

How To Get Involved

Active Member

Simply Participate in the regular Activities and Events of Launch Campus Ministry. We also highly encourage students to participate in specific Teams. Each Team has a unique purpose in the life of Launch. The Teams have limited meetings on specific Sunday nights from 7-8pm.

Student Leader

Student Leaders serve as leaders of Teams as well as coordinate the Activities and Events of Launch Campus Ministry. There is an application and interview process to be appointed to this position.

Leadership in Training (LIT) is another position that serves the various teams, but is little less in time commitments.

Internship

The Internship Program of Launch is designed for current college students or recent graduates to explore vocational ministry or how to apply their faith to their career. This is a paid, part-time position. There is an application and interview process with the staff to be appointed to this position.

Teams

This Team facilitates event for students to connect with others within Launch. This Team focuses on events aimed at helping students find the best opportunities to grow and utilize their gifts and talents.

This Team helps provide the worship music for our weekly TNT's as well as an occassional worship event. Having musical or a/v talent is preferred but not required.

This Team is purposed with the challenge of engaging with students at Purdue with the Good News of Jesus. Occasionally, they help with the promotions of other events. They provide training for evangelism as well.

This Team encourages and educates fellow students on ways to engage and befriend different cultures within and beyond Purdue.

This Team aims to reach those in the nearby community as well as those around the world with the Good News of Jesus. This Team plans events throughout the year to raise financial support for students who feel led to go on short-term mission trips.

This Team helps to create and promote intramural teams here at Purdue. We see Intramurals as an outreach opportunity to engage with students who might not ever engage with Launch unless it were on a field, a court, or in a pool.

TNT Small Groups for Spring 2025

TNT happens EVERY Thursday night during the semester at 7:27pm at 507 Waldron Street.

9 weeks out of the semester is Small Group nights. Everyone is Welcome!

  • Jesus on Leadership

This group is focused on how we can imitate Jesus' leadership example by the way He served. This group is a pre-requisite for serving as a student leader in Launch. However, it is open to all. This group is taught by Ben Beck.

  • Living with Purpose

This group will focus on what it means to live with the Great Commission in mind. We will examine different missions approaches and how they impact our lives. This group is led by Dennis Runner.

  • Respectable Sins

    “Respectable Sins” by Jerry Bridges

It’s so easy for us to see the sins of others and sins that we consider to be really “Bad Sins” in society. We can be blind to our subtle sins which hinder our relationship with God and are not acceptable. Join us to take a look at our destructive patterns of sin that we accept as normal and seek God in removing them from our life.

Participants are responsible for ordering their own book or e-book.

Respectable Sins: A 9-Week Small-Group Curriculum: Confronting the Sins We Tolerate https://a.co/d/gBwUeBC

This group will be led by Nettie Beck with Nathaniel Paul co-leading.

  • Investigating Christianity

This group is open to everyone, especially those who have deep questions about Christianity and God. It is designed to be a "safe space" for those who are curious. Feel free to invite your friends. Rick Butler leads this group along with a student assistant.

  • Book Study: The Search for Significance

We are all searching for significance to ourselves, to others, to our community and to our world. This study will help you to discover and understand that true significance is found in Christ alone. Danielle Singer leads this group.

  • Book Study: Finding Christ in Sacred Celebrations of the Old Testament

Explore the cultural significance and meanings of the feasts and festivals prescribed in the OT and how they ultimately point to Jesus. This group will be led by Jeanne Butler.

  • Characters of the Bible

This group will be exploring how different characters of the Bible point to Jesus. Whether through kings, patriarchs, or prophets, Jesus is who and why God chose them to be referenced in His Word. Rachel Swain will be leading this group.
